Mimecast LFS - Sending Via Outlook 2019
All instructions are predicated with being signed into Mimecast. Being fully signed in will look like this:
If you aren’t signed in you will instead just see the following options:

Once you can see all the options, please do the following
- Click on “Attach Large Files” in Mimecast tab
- Select the file you want to send from the file explorer browser window and press “open”
- Send your email as normal filling in your recipients, your subject line, and your message.
- Select your options
- How long the files can be accessed after sending (you can choose 3 or 7 days automatically and custom for anything shorter or longer than those options)
- Notify you if the files as accessed (a great option for triggering follow ups)
- Send me a link to the files (so you can see what your recipient experiences as well)
- Invite recipients to send me large files (if you plan on swapping large files and want the user to send things back, if you want to initiate a LFS where you receive files, please see this article)
- Use an access key for additional security (if this is really sensitive information, you can have a secondary email go out with a PIN to access the information)
- How long the files can be accessed after sending (you can choose 3 or 7 days automatically and custom for anything shorter or longer than those options)
- Press “Send” after choosing all the appropriate options.
- There will be a large file send notification status in the lower right-hand corner. You can also see this is from the Mimecast Manager setting in the Mimecast tab
- This will pop up open a window, choose the “Queue” option to view the status.
- Select the “Sent Files” tab to view any active files sent
- Clicking on the Active File will give further details.
- Your recipient will receive an email with instructions. The download link will remain active as per the settings you sent before sending out the email.
- You recipient will click on the Download Files button which will take them to our Mimecast Portal site where they will get the option to download the file.
